Teresa He, president of Huawei's chipmaking arm HiSilicon, also said in a recent letter to company staff that it has always been prepared for the "extreme scenario" that it could be banned from purchasing USA chips and technology and is able to ensure steady supply of most products to clients. He stressed that Huawei can operate with or without American semiconductors. If Huawei closed its showroom and its business outlets in the U.S., it would affect around 50,000 employees in that country.

The spirit of openness is what helped the United States develop.

For Washington to win in an era of cooperation and inter-dependence, it would be better to revive the spirit of openness.
