The reveal of Marvel's Avengers character designs at E3 2019 were a welcome surprise for many, but some fans have taken issue with the way that some of our favorite comic book heroes are depicted. In addition to a lack of gameplay (besides behind closed doors demos), Marvel's Avengers is also taking some heat for the character design direction.

The online reaction to the game has been strong, with a bunch of different reasons for the designs of the Avengers themselves being so reviled - the main one being that they look too similar to their MCU counterparts. IGN talked to the game developers about it and they confirmed that Marvel's Avengers will indeed have microtransactions.

The latest mega-blockbuster from Marvel Studios has earned a worldwide total of $2.732 billion at the box office so far, putting it within range of beating "Avatar", which raked in $2.788 billion to become the highest-grossing movie of all time.

Escayg said to the site "we are always listening to, and welcome feedback from our community". "We wanted to clearly show that this was our spin on the Avengers", Escayg says. "There are now no plans to change our character designs", he said.

And it was Will Smith's famous post-transformation moment where he uttered the now iconic line, "I make this look good". Judging by the poor box office opening, it's in doubt that Tessa Thompson will be back for another Men In Black movie.

"The trailer is showing pre-alpha gameplay footage, which means the level of detail and overall polish of the character models will absolutely continue to improve as we get closer to launch", Escayg said. The game has been in development for several years now and is rumored to be a GaaS title.

Following its appearance at the Square Enix E3 2019 press conference it still wasn't exactly clear what sort of game it actually was.

Marvel's Avengers releases May 15, 2020 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
