J.R. Smith is expected to become a free agent this offseason, and when he does, the Lakers are expected to pounce on him. And one last one could be an old friend of James.

Carmelo Anthony's career might not be over and done with after all.

The Lakers completed one of the biggest trades in National Basketball Association history earlier this month when they acquired Anthony Davis from the Pelicans in exchange for Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart and three first-round picks. It also was reported that the star forward would be open to meetings with a number of other teams.

According to Fred Roggin of NBC Los Angeles, the Lakers already have a meeting set with the 2019 All-Star for the Brooklyn Nets at some point after free agency begins on Sunday afternoon.

Callaway did not make a public apology, but said he addressed the situation with Healey and would keep the conversation private. He called the incident an "unfortunate distraction" and declined to take questions from reporters Monday.

The Nets exceeded expectations last season and reached the playoffs for the first time since 2014-15. Haynes said. "We all know that the Lakers need shooting, that was their Achilles heel previous year, so short him up, bring him in the fold, that would be a big boost".

JR Smith became a legend for all of the wrong reasons during the 2018 NBA Finals last season.

There may have been interest from NY in a reunion with Anthony if they had a roster with multiple stars ready to win immediately. But Anthony would have interest in signing with the Knicks and finishing his career in NY, despite how his Knicks tenure ended. But with Durant injured and the odds against the Knicks building that kind of team this summer, bringing Anthony back is not now part of the team's thinking.
