PM Modi’s flight to bypass Pakistan en route to Bishkek SCO

BISHKEK: The global media is irked by Prime Minister Imran Khan's latest diplomatic gaffe at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit held in Kyrgyzstan's capital Bishkek on Thursday.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan will also be attending the summit. "PM welcomed him to India for next informal summit, President Xi Jinping confirmed his readiness to visit India this year", he said.

In the first meeting of the council of ministers since the re-election of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi set rules and gave instructions to the council of ministers on Wednesday. "There is no way two nuclear-armed countries should think of resolving differences through military means.Now that the (Indian) elections are over we hope that the Indian leadership will grasp this opportunity. let's resolve all our differences through dialogue".

Cooperation between the two countries, said the Chinese leader, cannot only boost their respective development, but also will contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in Asia and the wider world.

After the summit in Kyrgyzstan, Putin, Xi, Central Asian leaders, and top officials from dozens of other countries will convene on June 15 in neighboring Tajikistan's capital, Dushanbe, for the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). He further stated that peace among India and Pakistan was entirely dependent on the issue of Kashmir.

Pakistan became a member of the SCO in 2017, participating at all levels in various SCO mechanisms including foreign affairs, defence, national security, economy and trade, science and technology and innovation, youth and women Empowerment, tourism and media.
