Marvel studios president Kevin Feige, flanked by dozens of Hollywood stars, revealed the post-Avengers roster of films to a stunned hall in San Diego.

"So Phase 4 is about beginnings, and Phase 4 is about learning new things about characters you already think you know, like Black Widow; meeting incredible new characters like The Eternals and Shang-Chi; going on new adventures with Doctor Strange and Thor; and these Disney+ shows which I promise will be spectacular and what no one is expecting".

As it turns out, this entire slate of movies and TV shows will complete Marvel's Phase Four. Portman, who starred in earlier films as the girlfriend to Chris Hemsworth's Thor, will take up the superhero's hammer as a female goddess of thunder.

In addition to Jolie, the film will star Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff and Don Lee. Zhao said she "just really really wanted to make a Marvel movie for so long".

At the ongoing San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel made a few announcements - some expected, others surprising.

Destin Daniel Cretton will the film which pits Shang-Chi against the "real" Mandarin (NOT Iron Man 3 Mandarin), who will be played by Tony Leung.

"What If...?" joins the Disney+ lineup in the summer of 2021.

Thor 4 - now revealed to be called Thor: Love and Thunder - is officially on its way and it's bringing back an OG cast member, Natalie Portman. One of the bombshells was Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali playing the lead role in a Blade reboot.

Mahershala Ali is to take over the role of Blade from Wesley Snipes. The film is directed by Cate Shortland who was on hand to greet the Hall H audience along with Scarlett Johansson, reprising her role of Natasha Romanoff, as well as newcomers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe David Harbour as Alexei aka The Red Guardian, Florence Pugh as Yelena, O-T Fagbenle as Mason and Rachel Weisz as Melina.

They also account for three of the top five grossing domestic release of all time, unadjusted for inflation.

Marvel supremo Kevin Feige has announced that there won't be any new movies in the Avengers series during the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. THE FANTASTIC FOUR! That's right, the First Family of Marvel is coming to the MCU! Yes! I hope you love it because this is going to be surprising and weird.
