Leeds Bradford airport chaos as 'drone sighting' forces flights to be suspended

The drones sighting comes after hundreds of flights in and out of Gatwick Airport were cancelled between December 19 an 21 causing havoc.

The airport re-opened 45 minutes later.

Flights held and diverted from LBA.

Up to three Jet2 flights were affected by the incident. Other flights have been placed on hold.

"Guess I could be sitting on this plane for a while".

Police said they received a report of a drone flying near to the Old Ball roundabout in Horsforth, just south of Leeds Bradford Airport at 14:03 BST.

About 140,000 passengers were caught up in the disruption as the runway at the UK's second busiest airport was closed for 33 hours between 19 and 21 December a year ago.

Flights to and from Leeds Bradford Airport in Northern England were held for almost an hour Friday afternoon following a drone sighting in the area.
