Several in Wenatchee felt quake tremors

The U.S. Geological Survey reports that a 4.6 magnitude natural disaster has rattled the Three Lakes area of Washington state, less than 50 miles northeast of Seattle.

The natural disaster occurred near Three Lakes, Washington at 2:51 a.m. local time.

Also Friday, there was a 4.9-magnitude natural disaster in Ridgecrest, CA., and a small 2.5-magnitude quake in Mexico City. It came days after a swarm of more than two dozen small earthquakes shook under Mount Hood.

There were no immediate reports of injuries. "We are spooked and still awake", Rob Fuhriman told the station.

The Northwest is especially prone to earthquakes.

And a year ago , a bag of bones was found during ground work at the Vatican embassy in Rome , but DNA tests turned out negative. A second, similar grave alongside the first was also opened to rule out any misunderstandings over which grave was meant.

The state Department of Transportation said the agency would be inspecting bridges, but had no reports of damage.

CBS News reports that the quake was the largest in the Seattle area since a 6.1 natural disaster in February 2001.

Residents of Vancouver, Victoria and other spots near the border jumped on Twitter in the middle of the night to say they felt shaking.

A day earlier, B.C. recorded a 6.2-magnitude natural disaster between Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii but it was unrelated to the one in California.

Caruso said the Northwest quake had no connection to the recent earthquakes in California.
