WWE Issues Statement on Jeff Hardy's Arrest for Public Intoxication

Hardy was arrested without incident and booked into Myrtle Beach jail, Vest said.

Per the writeup, the 41-year-old was arrested and taken on early on Saturday morning.

Myrtle Beach Police told Daily Star Online the wrestling superstar was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public and impairment but later released on a $200 (£159) bond.

Jeff now finds himself on WWE's injury reserve list having suffered a leg issue severe enough for the company to strip him and brother Matt of their SmackDown Tag Team Championships, and isn't expected to return for another 5-7 months.

It was back in 2008 that Hardy was barred from boarding a pane in Nashville due to alleged intoxication though he was not arrested. He served a 10-day jail sentence in October 2011 after pleading guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of conspiracy to traffic.

The wrestler captured fans' hearts for his death-defying stunts with WWE from 1998 through 2003. Now, WWE has released an official statement commenting on the matter.

After seven years away from WWE, he and his brother made a surprise return at Wrestlemania in 2017.
