Game of Thrones reached its final stage in 2019 with season 8 marking the last time we would get to see our favourite characters like Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.

The first day at Creative Arts Emmys focused on non-scripted programming. The show won for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series for Luke Kirby as Lenny Bruce, Outstanding Period Costumes and Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series for Jane Lynch's portrayal of Sophie Lennon, among others.

The accolades came during the 71st Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which were handed out over the weekend. He received the award as an executive producer of ABC's "Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear's "All in the Family" and 'The Jeffersons, '" which won the best live variety special award.

Weta won in the same category for the same show previous year, that time for its work on "Beyond the Wall" which famously featured a zombie polar bear.

The Handmaid's Tale excelled itself too this Sunday by taking home awards in both drama guest categories-which was the limit of its eligibility anyway, given it was reduced to submitting episodes from previous year under "hanging episodes" rule.

Anthony Bourdain won another Emmy posthumously, with his CNN series taking the best informational series over competitors like A&E's Leah Remini's Scientology show, David Letterman's Netflix talk show and Lifetime's "Surviving R. Kelly".

"Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool" also won the gong for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), as well as Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Limited Series, Movie or Special. In addition to winning as an executive producer he also won for outstanding writing for a nonfiction program.

The "major" Emmys will be presented next Sunday, Sept. 22, including awards for drama series, comedy series and miniseries/TV movie in acting, writing, direction and production.
