The film takes center stage even as Lionsgate ramps up John Wick 4.

Hatten has since worked on the scripts for Zack Snyder's upcoming Netflix film Army of the Dead, as well as John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum.

"Ballerina", a woman-centric John Wick spinoff, is in the works at Lionsgate, with Len Wiseman on board to to develop and direct.

According to the report, Ballerina focuses on a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family. The various factions in NY and around the world all answer to the High Table, which metes out deadly punishment to anyone out of line. While talking with the Director, they pass lots of ballerinas training in dance and martial arts, and it's strongly implied that once upon a time, John learned his incredible fighting skills in this school.

John Wick 4 is headed our way in 2021, but it looks like it won't be the only John Wick movie we'll have to look forward to. The female character was glimpsed in the last John Wick film and it isn't clear at this point whether Reeves will be in the film, though if he does it will be a cameo. This means that the titular ballerina is likely to be almost as deadly as Wick himself, having undergone the same training.

Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Chad Stahelski are producing "Ballerina", with Reeves executive producing. Actor Unity Phelan is listed as Ballerina in the John Wick: Chapter 3 credits on IMDb, alongside more than a half-dozen "dress rehearsal ballerinas" and "ballet instructors".

Wiseman is the director of the 2012 "Total Recall" remake and "Live Free or Die Hard" from 2007.

As yet, there's no planned release date for Ballerina.
