Speculation in recent weeks has linked Liverpool with a move to the PSG, driven by the fact that its new Nike kit supplier also has an agreement with Mbappe.

"Buying this calibre of player is hard", Klopp was cited in Saturday's The Times as saying. "He says whatever he wants, he's entitled to, just like I'm entitled to say whatever I want today".

PSG sporting director Leonardo slammed Zinedine Zidane for talking up Kylian Mbappe's "dream" of moving to Real Madrid.

Despite his insistence that a move for Mbappe is out of his club's grasp, Klopp said he remains confident that Liverpool can attract the right calibre of player to strengthen his squad when required. Klopp, whose side have a six point lead over champions City heading into their match at Anfield, said the minimalist level of activity from him in the transfer market in the close season was down to the money being asked for their targets.

"When you talk to a player, you can feel it, this year, last year, even three years ago, you can see it in the eyes of a player; I'm not sure if honor is the right word, but it's good". Not at all. They are at a superb age with however house for improvement.

Back in the summer, Mbappe hinted that his time in France could be coming to an end, but didn't reiterate his desire to one day play in Spain. The Brazilian has been making a lot of problems to the club with his eagerness to return to Barcelona and PSG want to stop that from happening.

"I don't think we struggle with convincing players".
