Rather, Resistance is part of the Resident Evil 3 package because of its thematic ties.

This comes from Producer Peter Fabiano who sat down with Official PlayStation Magazine (via GamesRadar) to talk about Resident Evil Resistance. No detail, however, regarding the possible presence of a VR mode.

According to Eurogamer, their own sources corroborated some of that info, such as the first-person perspective that helps to sell the idea of new Resident Evil entries sticking to that viewpoint so that they can differentiate themselves from the third-person remakes. "We also wanted to take up the challenge of building out an online game set in the RE universe".

As more news on Resident Evil 8 is revealed, we'll have details here. Despite the massive success of the remake of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 Remake launching soon, Capcom has been apparently hard at work with Resident Evil 8. On top of the return of the first-person mode, the rumours also seem to suggest that Ethan Winters - the original protagonist from RE7 - will be making a return to RE8, alongside boulder-punching veteran, Chris Redfield. Eurogamer later went on to report that this lines up with some of the things they've independently heard about the project.

Nintendo just passed $1 billion in lifetime revenue from mobile games
Neither Nintendo Switch Online nor social app Miitomo (which was shut down in 2018) were included in Sensor Tower's analysis. As you'll see in the image below, Fire Emblem Heroes by far and away accounts for the most spending at 61%.

While still a ways from release, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise Resident Evil 8 (or whatever it ends up being called) is also on that list.

What are your thoughts on the decision to keep Resident Evil Resistance separate from the series' canon?

Capcom may not have spoken in detail about its yet unreleased Resident Evil 8 title, but that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from churning out hearsay and gossip.
