Protesters standing up against the Coastal GasLink project that crosses Wet'suwet'en First Nation territory have created a number of railroad blockades in BC, Manitoba and Ontario. "We have professional police forces right across the country", he said in Germany on Friday.

"I just think there's a critical mass of things happening and issues coming together", she said outside the Ministry of Environment building.

Meanwhile, Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer took on a much different approach, calling protesters radical activists.

A statement reads "Following a notice from the infrastructure owner, CN Rail, that they are no longer in a position to fulfill their obligations under the Train Service Agreement between VIA Rail and CN Rail, VIA Rail has no other option but to cancel all of its services on the network, effective immediately and until further notice".

Some members of Niagara's Indigenous community are planning a protest Sunday to show support for Wet'suwet'en hereditary chiefs who are opposed to the Coastal GasLink natural gas pipeline in BC. "I know Indigenous people are". "And making sure that those laws are enforced, even as there is, of course, freedom to demonstrate and to protest", he said.

CN said its shutdown may imminently lead to temporary layoffs for eastern Canadian staff.

More than 150 routes had been cancelled previously amid protests against the Coastal GasLink pipeline.

"It's a bit chaos, everyone just running around", said Kazi Haque, describing his morning at the Via Rail counter inside Toronto's Union Station.

Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller is also setting up a meeting with Indigenous leaders in an effort to halt a blockade near Belleville, Ont., which he called a "highly volatile situation". "We need to allow the discussion to take place".

"Quite frankly this is getting ridiculous. radical activists many of whom have no connection to the Wetsuweten people are holding our country's economy hostage. meanwhile, our Prime Minister has been on a vanity project to get a vote in the United Nations, neglecting his duties here at home", said Scheer on Friday morning.
