Storm Dennis: Scottish weather warning upgrades to amber with 'danger to life'

Disruptions to travel are expected across the country and anyone wishing to drive or use public transport is advised to travel with caution.

While the storm is now registering pressure of just 917mb - low enough to bring extreme weather conditions, - Ms Watters said that by the time it hits Ireland, it will have increased to around 950mb, which is still low enough for gale-force winds.

The amber warning is in place from midday tomorrow until midnight for southern Scotland with yellow warnings for wind and rain across the rest of the country are in place from tomorrow through to Monday.

Khan added: "Unfortunately with the rain that has already fallen, the additional significant rain that Storm Dennis could bring may cause severe flooding in some parts of the United Kingdom".

Cllr Humby added: "The forecast is for heavy rain this coming Saturday".
