Global News reported the troops would be stationed within 30 km of the border to stop those with the COVID-19 virus from entering the USA illegally from Canada.

According to that report, the USA troops would be deployed within 30 kilometres of the border between official points of entry, and would use "sensor technology" to help detect irregular migrants.

The official also stressed that the decision to deploy the troops had not been made.

"We have very strong deployments on the southern border, and we had some troops in Canada, but I'll find out about that - I guess it's equal justice to a certain extent", Trump said, without explanation.

The bill injects cash into the economy at a number of points to help Canadians through the COVID-19 crisis, including the employment benefits, student-loan deferrals, and funds for the health care system, homeless and women's shelters, and Indigenous communities.

"To protect the health and safety of returning Canadians and those who are around them, we are strengthening our measures at the border".

Under the proposal, the USA military would advise American border agents, who would be sent to intercept them.

Over that same period, there were only 3,000 apprehensions along the Canada-U.S. border - just one per cent of the total.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Freeland said the move would be unjustified, as very few people cross illegally into the USA from the Canadian side. "And it is very much in both of our interests for it to remain that way", Trudeau told a daily briefing.

The state of NY, which shares a border with Canada, has been an epicenter of the USA outbreak.

Spokesperson Jeff Thomson said that when you click on the links in the scam texts you'll typically be taken to a fake website.

Freeland said Ottawa "forcefully" pushed back against the border proposal, reminding in discussions with United States officials that the two nations are "very close military allies", including partners in NORAD and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

Trudeau said government employees were working "around the clock" and being redeployed from other departments to help out.

He said it would be "equal justice" since US military have deployed to play a support role on the border with Mexico.

"This virus will possibly face resurgences, even once we handle that in Canada and in many countries".

"The United States and Mexico have agreed to restrict nonessential travel over our shared border", Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters Friday.
