"To be honest with you I was blown away", John said.

"Rocketman" premiered Thursday night at the Cannes Film Festival - and Elton John performed an emotional duet with the actor who channels him onscreen to celebrate the occasion.

"Because what I've tried to do to myself, I shouldn't be sitting here and I've been very, very lucky in that".

The script focuses on "Elton John's early rise to stardom and his flirtation with self-destruction in Dexter Fletcher's glittery bio-musical fantasy", according to The Hollywood Reporter.

With John on the keys and both on vocals, it's a nice moment between the two and shows the respect that Egerton has for John and John has for Egerton.

'Minecraft Earth' makes the world your augmented reality playground

John also perform "I'm Still Standing", his 1982 multi-platinum single.

They weren't the only critics to note that the music presents its own distinctive challenges. The Guardian acknowledged that Rocketman "had the burden of following or living up to Elton John's sensational songs, the masterpieces which each seem like mini-movies in themselves".

The singer and his songwriting partner Bernie Taupin spoke about their reactions to the premiere of the film in a video for Paramount. I echo Elton's feelings, 100 percent. But Rocketman is R-rated and less cautious about its star's homosexuality.

John poses for the press at a photocall for Rocketman. "I knew I had a problem and I was really unhappy with myself, so I was ashamed of myself". It will look at the performer's life past the glitter saturated image we have grown so accustomed to associating with the performer. I'm looking at me.
