Netflix may soon have no more Friends and get kicked out of The Office, but the streamer landed global exclusive SVOD rights to Seinfeld.

Netflix is poised to lose popular comedies "Friends" and "The Office" as the battle for streaming viewers intensifies.

Netflix will doubtlessly be positioning Seinfeld as a replacement for Friends and The Office, which are leaving for HBO Max in 2020 and NBCUniversal's service in 2021, respectively.

Netflix has not confirmed how much it paid for the five year deal, but Hulu reportedly laid out more than $150 million for the show. The streaming giant announced on Monday that all 180 episodes of the sitcom will be with Netflix after striking a deal with Sony Pictures Television.

Warning as hurricane Humberto forms off Florida coast
As Humberto moves away from the Bahamas, experts say it will continue to get stronger, potentially reaching a Category 2 level. Hurricane Humberto is about 785 miles west of Bermuda and moving northeast at 3 mph, the hurricane center said late Sunday.

"Seinfeld is a one-of-a-kind, iconic, culture-defining show", Sony Pictures Television chairman Mike Hopkins said as quoted by Los Angeles Times.

The series now streams on Walt Disney Co's Hulu in a deal that runs through 2020.

Seinfeld, which turned 30 this year, originally had a 4:3 aspect ratio and came in standard definition. "It is as fresh and amusing as it ever will be". Seinfeld, in the meantime, accounted for lower than 1% of Hulu's whole viewership, per CNBC.

Netflix fought off bids from Hulu, Amazon, WarnerMedia, NBCUniversal and Viacom to land Jerry Sienfeld's titular classic 1990s sitcom, which co-starred Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michael Richards and Jason Alexander.

Even 20 years of its initial run after "Seinfeld" left its parent company, the show's repeats continued as a popular attraction on local TV stations and cable network and have generated billions of dollars in income worldwide.
