LeBron James endorses Deion Sanders for Florida State football head coaching job

Florida State fired head coach Willie Taggart on November 3 after he went 9-12 at the helm.

Former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, one of the winningest coaches of his generation, seemed all but guaranteed to take the job, at least according to the convenient albeit heavily unsubstantiated rumors that reached a boil earlier in the week that turned out to be nothing less than fake news.

Florida State is looking for a new coach for its football team after firing Willie Taggart, and apparently former NFL, and FSU, star Deion Sanders is in the conversation for the job. "I don't know if taking a hot coordinator would be the right move". I need those players from Miami.

Sanders was a two-time unanimous All-American at Florida State and the 1988 Jim Thorpe Award victor.

Though Sanders, 52, has coached at the high school level, he has never coached for a college program or professional team and has spent the vast majority of his post-athletic career serving as a TV analyst, first for CBS Sports and now for NFL Network.

A two-sport star at Florida State, his No. 2 jersey is retired. At the conclusion of his college football career, Sanders had snagged 14 interceptions and returned 126 punts for over 1,400 yards.

Sanders has coached high school football for several years and also opened Prime Prep Academy in 2012 before it shut down in 2015. Sanders is a 10-time Pro Bowler (eight times as a cornerback, once as a kick returner and another as a punt returner), as well as a member of the NFL's First-Team All-Decade team in the 1990's as both a cornerback and punt returner. Sanders later disputed the alleged claim. During his National Football League career, Sanders was an eight-time Pro Bowler, two-time Super Bowl champ and Defensive Player of the Year in 1994.

Deion's son, Shedeur Sanders, is a four-star quarterback prospect in the class of 2021 out of Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas.
