Man, daughter left woman for dead in California desert

Captain Eduardo Hernandez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Major Crime Bureau announced during a press conference on Friday that Stanley Alfred Lawton and his 22-year-old daughter Shaniya Poche Lawton had been arrested and charged for their alleged connection to the abduction.

She was found by military personnel during a routine patrol early Wednesday, Los Angeles County sheriff's Capt. Eduardo Hernandez said at a news conference.

The suspects, identified as 54-year-old Stanley Alfred Lawton and 22-year-old Shaniya Nicole Poche-Lawton, allegedly kidnapped the woman at gunpoint before holding her at Lawton's home in Palmdale, California.

The victim and her kidnappers knew each other, according to authorities, but the event "doesn't seem to point to any revenge", Hernandez said. They were arrested and face charges of attempted murder, first-degree ATM robbery, kidnapping to commit robbery, kidnapping from outside the state, and rape.

Authorities reported the girl, who was dumped in the desert with out foodstuff or h2o, was struggling from cold and publicity when military authorities observed her around the sprawling armed forces base. They are accused of sexually assaulting her on Sunday.They also accused of robbing her at ATMs on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, according to court docket documents.

Stanley and Shaniya Lawton allegedly kidnapped the victim at gunpoint in North Las Vegas on October 30, he said.

As indicated by prison records, the senior Lawton is being held on $4.5 million bails, while his little girl is being held in a different position on $1 million bonds as they anticipate a November 12 court appearance. Lawton was arrested on Wednesday in Palmdale, California, and Poche-Lawton was arrested early Thursday, police said.
