Bruce Springsteen's son Sam becomes New Jersey firefighter

Sam Springsteen, 26, was one of 15 new firefighters sworn in by Mayor Steven Fulop at City Hall Tuesday morning - and The Boss on site for the big day. Boss and Scialfa were seated in the front row while their 25 year old son was sworn in in the last class.

"We're very proud", Bruce Springsteen told reporters at the ceremony. "We're just thrilled for him today".

Bruce Springsteen's son is officially a Jersey City firefighter. She told her son to "stay safe" and "love your fearless heart!"

The Jersey City Fire Department responds to 1,300 fires each year, according to a statement by Mayor Steven M. Fulop. We got to spend some time in my office talking about music but more than that they're proud parents of a new JC Firefighter.

Asked what it mean to be a firefighter in Jersey City, Sam shyly said, "I'm going to take a pass on this one".

He is the youngest of Bruce Springsteen's three children with wife Patti Scialfa.

Since Fulop took office in 2013, a total of 204 new firefighters have been hired, bringing the department to a historic high of 666 uniformed firefighters and superiors.

New Jersey native Bruce and Patti also have daughter Jessica, 28, together.
