TN COVID-19 positive count goes up to 18

The spike in fatalities means that across the globe, only Italy now has a higher death toll than Spain. "I can not say that we have reached it".

Spanish media reported that 23 residents of a Madrid retirement home had died from COVID-19 or symptoms related to the new virus, news reports said.

The surge in numbers has brought the medical system to the brink of collapse, with Spain struggling with a lack of medical supplies for testing, treatment and the protection of frontline workers, and a growing number of cases among healthcare personnel with more than 5,400 infected.

In respect of manufacturing units, those producing essential items and export units can work with limited number of staff and in the case of realty sector, construction activities are to be stopped barring essential buildings.

The latest patients include a 65-year-old man who returned from New Zealand and is now in isolation at a private hospital, a 55-year-old woman from Saidapet who is now in quarantine Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, and a 25-year-old who returned from London and is undergoing treatment at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.

Deaths linked to COVID-19 in the United States now total more than 800, including almost 200 in New York City alone, according to a database kept by Johns Hopkins. "We're now looking at a bullet train".
