Various N95 respiration masks at a laboratory of 3M, that has been contracted by the United States government to produce extra marks in response to the country's novel coronavirus outbreak, in Maplewood, Minnesota March 4, 2020. "Big surprise to many in government as to what they were doing - will have a big price to pay!"

At Thursday coronavirus briefing, Trump said "Hopefully they'll be able to do what they are supposed to do", he said.

3M also said Friday its staff "have gone above and beyond" to produce N95 masks, and that it's cracking down on "unethical and illegal" price gouging.

"We look forward to working closely with the administration to implement yesterday's DPA order", the company said. State governors and healthcare workers across the country have frequently called on the federal government to ramp up the supply of protective medical gear, including masks.

While PAPRs are different from N95 face masks, they are still vital in the fight against coronavirus. N95 face masks are critical for health care workers on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic, and there have been issues with mask shortages.

In a memo released by the White House, Trump directed the US Health and Human Services secretary to use his authority to help facilitate the supply of ventilator materials for six companies - General Electric, Hill-Rom Holdings, Medtronic, Resmed, Royal Philips and Vyaire Medical.

JPMorgan Chase probably unable to accept small business loan applications Friday: memo
The Small Business Administration has made $349 billion available in loans for millions of small businesses across the nation. Nonprofit organizations or 501 (c)(19) veterans organizations are also eligible, as well as healthcare providers.

The Trump administration, it said, has requested last weekend that 3M increase the number of masks from its overseas factories.

"Today's order will save lives by removing obstacles in the supply chain that threaten the rapid production of ventilators".

One of the guidelines could order Americans to wear face masks when leaving their homes.
