"It was remarkable to see her looking so well", says Hugo Vickers, biographer of the Queen Mother, the Duchess of Windsor and Queen Mary.

Her Majesty looked at ease on the pony, dressed in riding pants, a tweed blazer and a colourful scarf wrapped around her head.

HELLO! UK reported the photos were taken from an appropriate social distance as the Queen rode around Home Park in Windsor, a private royal park.

The 94-year-old regularly rides in the grounds of Windsor and has been a passionate horse lover and breeder of thoroughbred racehorses throughout her reign.

Over the weekend, Her Majesty was photographed for the first time since leaving Buckingham Palace for lockdown at Windsor Castle - riding Balmoral Fern, a 14-year-old fell pony, while sporting jodhpurs, a green blazer and a headscarf decorated in racing silk colours.

Queen Elizabeth II went into quarantine back on March 19, when a member of her palace was found to be covid-19 positive.

Now, Her Majesty has been pictured for the first time on her estate, riding a pony in the sun. She has been spending lockdown with her husband, Prince Philip, at their Windsor residence.

"Good for her! Still riding at 94!"
"They have dinner together in the evenings and I imagine the queen is of the generation where she dresses for dinner".

A series of stunning photos of Queen Elizabeth II horse riding have been shared. An insider told the magazine she is "in excellent spirits".

Over the past few months, she has held her duties and meetings by telephone, and has given several public addresses that have been broadcast on British television, and have been watched by millions of viewers from around the world.
