Garoppolo was one of a host of 49ers to sustain injuries in their Week 2 win over the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium, where the Niners will face the 0-2 Giants.

Mullens has become the first 49ers quarterback to throw for 220-plus yards in nine straight starts since Joe Montana did so over the 1985 and 1986 seasons. Williams wasn't around when Mullens started eight games in 2018, a stretch that brought out an entirely new dimension of the quarterback's personality. Only Patrick Mahomes, Andrew Luck, and Cam Newton racked up more. Garoppolo isn't expected to practice on Wednesday and it's unlikely Garoppolo will be ready to go just a week after the injury. He completed 8-of-11 passes for 71 yards with an interception.

"I'd be lying to tell you we're not going to be thinking about it or it's not going to go across our minds", Williams said on Wednesday, according to NBC Sports Bay Area.

The San Francisco 49ers could have one of their walking wounded back in time for Sunday's game against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

Defensive linemen Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas were each lost for the year to torn anterior cruciate ligaments while running backs Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman sustained knee injuries that will keep them out against the Giants.
