"The Pac-12 institutions are also participating in a national COVID-19 cardiac registry which will allow for medical practitioners to monitor closely, and gain greater insight into, potential health outcomes in student-athletes", the conference said.

The Group of Five league, which includes Utah State, announced Thursday evening it will play an eight-game season beginning October 24, with a Mountain West championship game scheduled for December 19. A Pac-12 team hasn't made the playoff since Washington lost to Alabama in the Peach Bowl at the end of the 2016 season.

In a release, the Pac-12 said men's and women's basketball can begin November 25 while other winter sports can begin in line with their respective NCAA seasons.

Like the Big Ten, the Pac-12 will also have every team in the conference play on conference championship weekend.

Pat Forde pointed out on Twitter following the Pac-12 announcement that only two Division I conferences have yet to announce their plan to resume Football at some point this fall.

Pac-12 football and basketball are the only sports that have hard start dates for competition in this new schedule. The Pac-12 said in August that because of pandemic uncertainties, it would not play any sports until at least January 1.

Health officials said today the number of people in hospital increased by 10 compared with the prior day, for a total of 148. Quebec is reporting 586 new cases of COVID-19 - a jump of more than 100 infections compared with Sunday.

So did the ability of all of the teams in the conference to be able to meet and practice. The Pac-12 will release its full schedule of games in the next few days, the conference said. Even if the Pac-12 doesn't have a team worthy of inclusion in the four-team field, the eligibility component is important so it can be in position to collect the sizable payout. That decision will be revisited in January, the conference said.

The Pac-12's decision to postpone football in August wasn't met with as much scrutiny as the Big Ten's.

Daily testing helped the Pac-12 convince state and local officials in California and OR to lift restrictions that have made it impossible for teams to prepare for a football season. As of Thursday afternoon, the California Department of Public Health issued a statement to ESPN that it was not aware of any changes to the guidelines.

There is still work to be done on that front, now in Colorado.

The Pac-12 said that other winter sports will begin practices and varying times.
