Trump, Mnuchin pressure Pelosi for COVID-19 stimulus package

If your household budget needs more help, it's time to take matters into your own hands. "And to crush the virus, we just have to follow the science: Testing, tracing, treatment, mask wearing, ventilation, separation, and the rest".

Senator John Thune of South Dakota, the No. 2 GOP leader in the chamber, said there probably isn't enough time for the House and Senate to process and pass stimulus legislation before the November 3 election, but it might be easier "once the dust settles and the smoke clears from the election".

Trump has not only changed his mind, Fox News claims the President wants to go much bigger than the Democrats in this matter and that too before the election starts.

"We don't have a Pelosi-Mnuchin deal yet", Meadows told reporters on Capitol Hill. We all want an agreement. "We're still apart, still a number of issues to work on, but the last 24 hours have moved the ball down the field". "That's because she doesn't want anything to pass, she and [Senate Minority Leader] Chuck Schumer have made a calculated decision".

White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said Wednesday that he hoped for a deal on a new coronavirus stimulus bill this week. "We haven't got an agreement".

But Pelosi said she believes McConnell "might not mind doing it after the election".

She lost her post when Republicans took over in 2011 but regained the speakership after Democrats won control of the chamber in the 2018 midterm elections. Trump again accused Pelosi of not wanting a deal before voters cast their ballots.

Apple MagSafe Charger Works With Older iPhones, Report Says
These cases, which are said to accompany iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro users, will not be released until November 6, 2020. But it seems the new MagSafe Charger isn't as efficient for older iPhone models as it is for the new iPhone 12 Series.

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are "just about there" on resolving a key piece of a coronavirus relief package, even as there are significant differences still being negotiated.

Ms. Pelosi had raised hopes that a deal might be imminent on Thursday and said the negotiators were "almost there". "But he has to talk to the Senate Republicans".

Democrats have countered McConnell's argument by pointing to studies that show Republican-run states such as his home state of Kentucky get far more in federal dollars than their taxpayers contribute to Washington. "The clock is ticking". "It's not going to be easy".

"In addition to an accommodative monetary policy, more targeted fiscal support will be needed to turn this K-shaped recovery into a broad and inclusive recovery", Fed governor Lael Brainard said in a speech this week.

The numerous issues that still must be worked out mean that another relief bill might have to wait until 2021. Now some House Democrats are telling Pelosi that they don't want to vote on legislation before the election if the Senate won't do so, according to a party official. But the election results could complicate any lame duck legislation.

Putting off votes on a stimulus package until after the election raises the risk that the Trump administration will be less inclined or able to push a package through the GOP Senate.

The total amount of the bill; whether it will have $1,200 in direct stimulus check payments; and what other sectors the money will be allocated towards have been the areas in which the Democrats and Republicans have butted heads the most.
