The Mate 40 could be the last one powered by the company's homegrown Kirin chipsets because of USA restrictions in May barring non-American companies from using US technology in manufacturing without a license.

While Huawei did not specify trade restrictions in its brief announcement, the company has been hit with a series of commercial trade restrictions by the USA government.

The Huawei Mate 30E Pro runs EMUI 11 which is based on the Android 10 OS and is powered by an octa-core Kirin 990E SoC chipset. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Mate 40 range will not be available in the US. The Pro+ has a 50-megapixel essential camera, a 20-megapixel ultrawide, a 12-megapixel 3x fax, and a 8-megapixel periscope camera with a 10x optical zoom. The Mate 40 still has the main 50MP f/1.9 shooter with the largest sensor now on the market from its more expensive counterparts, but comes with a toned down 16MP f/2.2 ultrawide unit and an 8MP f/2.4 3x telephoto camera.

The Huawei Mate 40 Professional has the ideal specs and extraordinary inner performance.

"It doesn't matter how much demand the Chinese market is now in as Huawei has a limited supply of components", said Nicole Peng, vice president of Canalys in Shanghai, referring to recent USA restrictions.

However, the Chinese company is also facing the greatest uncertainty in its history as nearly all global chip suppliers, including TSMC, its production partner for the Kirin 9000 5G SOC, have been forced to cut ties to comply with the new US export control regulations. These are the factors that make them just the very second family of the smartphones utilizing the next-gen 5-nanometer process, just after the recent Apple iPhone 12 family.

The Kirin 9000 features a 24-core Mali G78 GPU, which Huawei claims is 52 percent faster than the Adreno 650 GPU on the Snapdragon 865 Plus. The phone has 128 GB and 256 GB inbuilt storage options. Whereas the Mate 40 Pro comes with an 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. The regular Mate 40 packs a 4,200mAh battery that supports 40W SuperCharge technology.

There are a total of 17 high-quality Mate 40 Pro wallpapers that can be downloaded and used on your device. The smartphone also features an in-display fingerprint sensor. In comparison to this, the Pro comes only in black and white.

In addition to the U.S., Huawei is also facing scrutiny by other countries, including the United Kingdom, which is planning to implement a new poicy that will bar telecoms from buying new 5G equipment from Huawei to ZTE and require them to remove any parts from those companies that's already been installed in UK 5G networks by 2027.

That's the Mate 40 Pro, which has a 6.5in OLED "Horizon" display, powerful Kirin 9000 processor and advanced camera system.

The Pro Plus is reported to go on sale for $1,655 and the Pro is tagged at $1,418.
