HBO Max arrives on Amazon Fire TV devices

Starting from tomorrow, those that have access to Amazon Fire TV streaming devices, Fire TV Edition smart TVs, and Fire tablets will be able to load the HBO Max app onto their devices.

Max will start rolling out on Amazon Fire TV devices on November 17, less than six months after the initial launch of the WarnerMedia streaming service.

Amazon appears to have prevailed on the latter front, as customers who subscribe to HBO through Prime Video Channels will now be able to log into the HBO Max app with their Amazon credentials.

Max is joining Amazon Fire TV, but that's not enough to satisfy subscribers. (HBO is owned by WarnerMedia.) "Our continued goal is to make HBO Max and its unparalleled content available to customers across all the devices they love". To watch old shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air or new exclusives like The Flight Attendant, subscribers will have to use the HBO Max app. But HBO Max by far has the best library of all streaming services, including Netflix, which tens of millions of Fire TV and Roku users weren't able to access due to WarnerMedia's tangled distribution negotiations. Add to that a slew of new content being added to HBO Max this month, and it certainly makes for a very desirable combination to have available over the Christmas period, especially with more people staying at home due to the pandemic. One of the key sticking points in the deal talks was that WarnerMedia wanted to remove legacy HBO as a channel from Amazon's Prime Video Channels offering - and the companies' pact lays the groundwork to do that.

Kell Brook stopped in four rounds by Terence Crawford
Crawford sealed the deal in a matter of seconds, as he stopped Kell Brook in the fourth round to defend his welterweight gold. However, as the fight wore on, Crawford switched to the southpaw stance and picked Brook apart.

Terms of WarnerMedia's deal with Amazon for the Fire devices are not being disclosed. WarnerMedia, which expects to launch an ad-supported version of HBO Max sometime in 2021, forecasts that HBO Max will have 75 million to 90 million subs worldwide (including 50 million in the US) by 2025. Earlier this yr, Amazon stated it had practically 5 million HBO subscribers by way of Prime Video Channels. "Fire TV is a favourite amongst clients and we sit up for working with the Amazon group to interact and develop our current subscriber base by showcasing all that HBO Max has to supply". Becoming available on Amazon devices will help the service grow faster.

Where before, Amazon customers only had access to HBO, they'll now get to dive into HBO Max's ridiculously stacked collection of titles, including those from Warner Bros., DC, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Turner Classic Movies, and Studio Ghibli.

The HBO Max app on Amazon's Fire gadgets is built-in with the Alexa voice assistant.
