Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Democrats will move quickly to approve the next round of stimulus payments.

House Democrats on Monday against President Trump in the wake of the violent insurgency on the United States Capitol last week, which they say they will push forward if a parallel move to remove Trump from office via the 25th Amendment fails.

With the confirmation of Democrats controlling all three branches of government, this "Blue Wave" is expected to create trillions of dollars in new stimulus measures once Biden enters the White House later this month.

"One of the first things that I want to do when our new senators are seated is deliver the $2,000 checks to the American families", Schumer said.

Democrats are pushing for the removal of Trump, who has less than two weeks left in his term, after he helped to incite loyalists who stormed the Capitol.

"Leader McConnell is saying he can't call the Senate back after the House votes for impeachment because it requires unanimous consent-the consent of every senator".

US markets shrugged off the attack on the Capitol in Washington by Trump supporters who were trying to block final confirmation of Biden's victory. Five people died in last week's riot.

"I had a discussion today with some folks in the House (and) in the Senate", Biden said. All he needs is my agreement. "For [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi and [Democratic leader Sen.] Chuck Schumer to continue on this path, I think it's causing tremendous danger to our country, and it's causing tremendous anger". "And we could come back ASAP and vote to convict Donald Trump and get him out of office now, before any further damage is done", Schumer said. Biden promised to announce details this week of the plan he will propose after he takes office January 20.

Having a trial drag into the start of Biden's administration could hamper Biden's ability to get approval for additional stimulus. But with President-elect Joe Biden set to take office in just seven days, the timeline for the trial remains highly uncertain even as McConnell privately throws his support behind the impeachment effort. "Can we go a half day on dealing with the impeachment and half a day getting my people nominated and confirmed in the Senate, as well as moving on the package?" Biden said "That's my hope and expectation".
