According to a press release from Mayor de Blasio's office, the city plans to cancel its existing contracts with the Trump Organization to operate the Central Park Carousel, Wollman and Lasker skating rinks, and Ferry Point Golf Course.

A Trump Organization spokesperson said the city can't cancel the contracts.

Inciting an insurrection against the US government clearly constitutes criminal activity.

The New York Times reports de Blasio has considered such cancelations before, but he didn't have the legal footing.

New York City has terminated all business contracts with the Trump organisation, costing them $17m [£12,4m] a year in lost income.

"So, the city of NY will no longer have anything to do with the Trump Organization".

"The City of NY is severing all contracts with the Trump Organization", de Blasio told MSNBC.

The mayor accused Trump of inciting a "rebellion" at the United States Capitol, which prompted the review.

Amid accusations that Trump allegedly incited the Capitol mob on 6 January, the PGA voted to strip its namesake championship from Trump's Bedminister golf course in New Jersey, next year. He predicted they will challenge the decision in court.

"One of the reasons that he was given that contract was his ability to attract major golf tournaments", Johnson said at a briefing with the mayor. "We will get new vendors to come in and take over quickly". The contracts for the carousel and the ice rinks would end in coming weeks. He said the agreements for the carousel and skating rinks will be ended in less than a month, but that the golf course could take longer.

"Yet another example of Mayor de Blasio's incompetence and blatant disregard for the facts", the statement said.

"So, the City of NY will no longer have anything to do with the Trump Organization", he added.
