3 people fatally shot in Texas, suspect-at-large

The Austin Police Department said the suspect was still at large as of approximately 2:30 p.m. local time and urged everyone nearby to shelter in place and report suspicious activity.

Police know the identity of the gunman, according to a report by KVUE-TV in Austin.

Chacon said police believe Broderick meant to shoot the victims but said that "danger remains high" and advised the community to continue to shelter in place while police searched for him.

"We do not think that this individual is out targeting random people to shoot them", Chacon added, warning, nonetheless that "He is still at large, we do think that he is armed and he is very much risky". ATCEMS medics said they have obtained "Deceased On Scene" pronouncements of three adult patients. He said that the district attorney's office on Sunday filed a motion to revoke that bond and is actively supporting law enforcement as they pursue Broderick. A child linked to this incident is safe, Chacon said.

Broderick's wife filed for divorce and a protective order after his arrest, the Statesman first reported, citing court documents.

Chief Joseph Chacon told reporters that the suspect used to be a deputy for the Travis County Sheriff's Office. All residents are advised to shelter in place and avoid the area.

The area includes a strip mall containing several retail stores and large apartment complexes situated near wooded rolling hills.
