India Covid cases at 28,808,372; global tally 173.7 mn

OPH said it was aware of 558 active cases with 25 people hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms, including four in ICU.

Provincial health officials logged 663 new cases of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus today, the lowest single-day tally in Ontario since October 18.

As many as 364,746,522 samples have been tested in the country up to June 5 including 2,036,311 samples tested on Saturday, the Indian Council of Medical Research informed.

Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 fell to 545, however, the total number is underreported on weekends as many hospitals fail to submit their data.

The daily positivity rate stands further dips to 5.78 per cent, remaining below the 10 per cent-mark for 12 consecutive days, while the weekly positivity rate stands at 6.89 per cent. The national recovery rate has now increased to 93.67%.
